March is Women’s History Month, and here at Vega, we couldn’t be happier to celebrate the contributions of women all over the globe. We’ll be celebrating all month long through social media storytelling—including some extra fun on March 8, International Women’s Day (stay tuned!).

Vega invests in promoting gender equity throughout our supply chain, from sourcing to training to processing. We’re proud to note that over 90% of our farmer roasters are women. While working at Vega, these women attend college, raise their children, and contribute to their community—creating a better future for themselves and all of those around them. This is crucial because the female labor force participation rate in Nicaragua is a staggeringly low 49%, compared to 82% among men. As Vega grows, we will continue investing in these incredible women, creating opportunities that promote their immense potential.

To contribute to the pursuit of gender equality and human rights in the United States, we are donating $1 from every Vega purchase throughout the month of March to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). For almost 100 years, the ACLU has worked to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States. We believe it is important to stand with women, minorities, and those otherwise marginalized, especially during these uncertain and tumultuous political times. Women, men, everyone—we’re all in this together.
